THE DEPOSIT RIDDIM

This Riddim is the first project I put together some 3years ago. I think it still feels current and fresh with arebellious type of ‘shat’ (vibes) to it. The Deposit Riddim takes you back to the days of the Hardcore Dancehall of the 1990’s. The continuous bounce makes you bawl out “Pull up Selector”, capturing the feeling and mirroring the Riddims from the bogle era.

I built it with a Hard Bass Kick, Hi-Hats snapping and authentic Percussion, which formed the foundation. Then I added modern synths with a real edgy Bassline. When it was finished it gave me a vibes. I felt like I was skipping to the Bank. So picturing that I said to myself… “Da riddim yah sound like a deposit mi ah deposit a likkle ‘food’enuh, and so said, I gave it the name ‘The Deposit Riddim’”.

I asked Delly Ranx if he could show me a ‘strengt’ on this project as I had previously voiced for his Pure Music label through an introduction from my publisher, Kennedy Mensah (Back 2 Da Future Music Ltd). During an interview on a Radio Station in South London (Playvybz) I had made the link with Peppery, who then introduced me to Mr Diamond and Mexican, who also voiced on the Riddim. Back in North-West London I hooked up with Ill Mega another up & coming Deejay and turned this not only into a juggling Riddim but a strong, heavy, hard-hitting dancehall Serial.

I gave out a promo pack to a few DJ’s and Sound Systems and the response was overwhelming!!!! The Deposit Riddim was being played across the world in countries such as Zimbabwe, South Africa, Spain, Portugal, and the rest of Europe, where I was getting a large following. The biggest joy of the time was being put on power play by Young Lion on BBC 1xtra – he also mixed my first official Mixtape. It was a great feeling to know that the world listening in to the UK could now hear it and gravitate to a Riddim that I’d built in my own home Studio.

"I wanted to create a modern Dancehall Riddim with a Hip Hop feel. So I was 'Medzing' Man Like Busta Rhymes and Jadakiss - both Hip Hop artists - and then i listened to some Stephen McGregor aka D Genius - One of jamaica's finest Dancehall/Reggae producers. Then i infused my own melodic flow. I was sipping some brandy at the time and when that deep edgy bass line hit me i was like - 'Yeah!!!!!!, Dis yah one name "Double Shot".

“I could ‘hear’ Delly Ranx’s flow within the Riddim so I link up the artis’ and asked ‘how a combination soun’ on this Riddim?’ He said ‘send over your vocals’ and within an hour Delly sen’ it back and that’s how the production started. I got such an energy and vibe just listening to the drum pattern and bass alone – it just sound “CRAZY”!!!!, so I end up voicing 3 songs on the Riddim. The Riddim also features Knock Shizzle and Peppery, and I did another combination with Ill Mega from outta North West.

So pour yourself a Double Shot, “Tun Up Di Ting and Fulljoy,!!!!!”

NUH FRAID RIDDIM RELEASE 16/4/2013

“I-Yiy-Yiy Gonna Fight Till I Die Yiy-Yiy!!!!!!... Microphone in my hand I try to do better….” Sings Chardel perfectly capturing the essence of the title in the chorus of her contribution to the Nuh Fraid Riddim.

Originally my influence for the title came from the phrase “COME TES MI NUH”!!!! (Come and challenge me). Whether that be Bad Man, Sound Man or Bad Mind Man – we will meet you head on because we “Nuh Fraid” ah you (Not afraid of you).

Listening back to classics  like  the ‘Trilogy’, ‘Military’, and ‘Street Sweeper’ Riddims - I wanted to re-create that original dancehall pattern. Comprising the unique modern balance of today’s dancehall, whilst still not losing that real authentic feel.

Nuh Fraid features a wide range of international artists like Delly Ranx and Mr Murphy from Jamaica and the UK’s  very own Mr Diamond (Birmingham), Peppery, Mexican (Manchester), as well as Chardel, Ill Mega, Ras Iwhan, and myself from London.

I have to big up all the artists who brought their creative talents to this project to bring it to life - also many thanks to Kennedy (Prezedent) Mensah who with his vision and input has made this project possible.

Last but not least - Give Thanks to the Most High.

THE NUH FRAID RIDDIM (REBLE WORLD RECORDS) WILL BE AVAIABLE ON ALL DIGITAL PLATFORMS

Story Book Riddim Released 24/11/2014

Story Book Riddim Available Now!!!

Riddims I’ve built over the years have pretty much been straight upfront hardcore dancehall, but with this riddim I have taken a different road a more subtle and diverse approach in creating a dancehall style RnB kind of commercial take.

The vibe came to me as I was watching a documentary about the music industry and a Jagged Edge track played and ‘ mi nah lie’ the riddim just took to me and same place same time, I picked up the drum machine and started to play a drum pattern followed by a acoustic piano which then became the lead instrument and the rest just fell into place.

Listening to the riddim it was a straight Rnb riddim, but I wasn’t happy and said to myself “Mi haffi add likkle dancehall in deh” and structured a mid eight bar (8 bars) verse sequence in a dancehall style, when hearing it made me say “Yeh ah it dis”.

Although busy with Riddims, voicing and as a father we have to take time out for the kids, so I was doing my “Daddy ting” by reading my youngest daughter a princess storybook. In the belly of the book it clicked to me, the riddim I just built sounds like a story, and so the name just connected with the riddim.

The artists that I could hear on this project was of a commercial but dancehall caliber, such as Kym Hamilton, Chardel, Delly Ranx, Froggy MaddSquad, and myself (BabyBoom), which took it in the direction I wanted. I also voiced a Zimbabwean artist by the name of F.I.O who added a next flavour to the riddim.
